Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the largest and fastest growing accountancy body, with over 400,000 students and 170,000 members worldwide. The ACCA qualification is suitable for anyone looking for a career in finance, whether in accountancy practice or industry.

The ACCA professional qualification is globally recognised as a leading accountancy qualification, opening up many career opportunities in the world of finance. Graduates with a relevant degree may be able to claim exemptions from some of the exams – you can check for exemptions online. If you do not have a minimum of 3 GCSEs and 2 A Levels you will need to complete the ACCA Foundations in Accountancy exams first.

The qualification

There are four stages:

To become fully qualified you must pass all the exams and complete three years relevant work experience. You must also complete the ACCA’s online professional ethics module.

The exams

F1 to F4 are computer based exams (CBEs) – these can be sat at any time at any approved CBE centre and comprise a mix of multiple choice and objective test style questions. The pass mark is 50% and they are 2 hours duration.

All other subjects are written exams which take place in June and December each year. The pass mark is 50% and they are 3 hours duration, with an additional 15 minutes reading and planning time.
